Gästbloggare Tarek: The situation for refugees could go worse

When Syrian started fleeing Syria, they were thinking of nothing but to survive the machines of war that destroyed their lives and dreams. they left to neighboring countries like Turkey or Lebanon, with hopes that they will return to their homes soon, to their schools, to their ambitions they had.
After 5 years of war, with no hopes yet live in the Syrian skies, the dream of returning started fading. The only option was to pursuit that unknown future beyond sieges of Greek borders or that hungry Mediterranean sea.

Doctors, Teachers, Engineers and workers, carried their children to different European countries. Germany and Sweden were the countries that received the highest numbers among them. Those who arrived to Sweden suffered long waiting for their Asylum decisions, and long reunion process, but they found consolation with getting the permanent residency permit, so they can plan again for their life!

But it seems that refugees issue is still a winning card in politics, pressure was made for that matter, resulting with temporary residency permit. Even though there are some exceptions, and the TUT could turn to a PUT after 3 years. But what would this decision really do? Is it going to minimize the number of asylum seekers in Sweden? Is it going to fix the problem with housing refugees face? Is it going to eliminate the main cause why people come here? Probably not, since most of asylum seekers come from war-torn countries, not for economical reasons. What would it really do is to pile up pressure on them. After waiting almost a year to get their TUT, they will have only 3 years to:  To look for an apartment (an issue with lots of empty promises), start the establishment plan which is a 2-years plan!, then find a job after all that. All should be within 3 years or else they will be sent back!
This decision wouldn’t be problematic if other issues like housing, language teaching, work and establishment plans and other things were really fixed, but with the current factors, the situation could go worse for refugees!
